March 11th — April 26th
The SW Hope food drive has officially kicked off. Neighborhood House has been holding this food drive for the past 20 years. Their goal is to raise $50,000 to help feed our neighbors in need. In Oregon, one child out of six is at risk of not having enough to eat, and with SNAP benefits cut back, more families will struggle to put food on the table.
We have set a goal to raise $2,000 for the SW Hope food drive by April 26, 2026. Please consider donating by check in the offering plate on Sundays and make the check out to “Neighborhood House” with “SW Hope” on the subject line. Or, donate directly to Neighborhood House online at www.nhpdx.org/donate.
Your support for SW Hope helps stock Neighborhood House's Free Food Market with fresh choices. It delivers groceries to neighbors who can’t access the market. It fuels programs that make sure families, seniors, and children have healthy food on the table.
But if writing a check isn't feasible, there are plenty of other events going on to help raise money and awareness:
Dine Out to Donate Nights
Enjoy a night out at any of these restaurants, and a percentage of your meal price will be donated to SW Hope. Get a group together and make a night of it!

SW Hope 5K
Saturday, April 11, 9:45am @ Oregon Episcopal School
Bring the whole family to participate in the 10th annual SW Hope 5K. More than 300 people join together to run or walk, raise funds and fight food insecurity in our community.
We are back again at the beautiful Oregon Episcopal School campus in SW Portland, starting at 9:45am with the kids’ Bunny run and the 5K to follow at 10:15am.
Last year a group of more than 20 of us represented MPC, and we plan to do it again! We will meet before the event and walk (or run) together for a time of fellowship and fresh air. Invite friends and neighbors. Sign-up (and see some familiar faces from last year!) here and you're welcome to join MPC's “The God Squad” group when you register (password: GodSquad123). Although some participants will be running, many of us will be walking. Those who are walking more slowly, or are daunted by the length of the course, can opt out of the second lap. Hope to see you there!
