Cold Weather Kit Collection Drive 2024

Each Fall, MPC has partnered with HomePDX to collect and distribute Cold Weather Kits for our unhoused community. HomePDX has suggested an earlier delivery of our kits this year, so we are kicking off our collection at the Tacos & Tunes event on August 25th.

Through October 20th, we will be collecting the following items in the red barrel in the fellowship hall:

Handwarmers (8hr+) Disposable Ponchos) Warm & Thick Socks Wipes (unscented) Small Hand Sanitizers Strike Anywhere Matches

Hot Chocolate Packets Cup of Noodles /similar 'Just Add Water' Snacks Treats (Chocolates / Candy [no candy canes])

We will assemble these items into kits at MPC on October 20th, and then they will be distributed to houseless folks by HomePDX.

HomePDX is also requesting Tarps (8x8 or larger in dark colors or camo) and Thermals (mostly tops for men, but some bottoms and women’s), which will be distributed separately from the kits. They also request that all donated items are unscented as much as possible, and do not want lightweight gloves or socks.
